Vent des Forêts, contemporary art centre

Since 1997 six forestry villages in the heart of the Meuse department have been inviting contemporary artists to develop their work directly in situ.

This artistic immersion in a rural context is part of what makes the creative adventure of Vent des Forêts. The artists' works give rise to memorable encounters and achievements, whose values are naturally transmitted to the visitors, who discover these creations by walking the art trails.

At present, more than 210 works have been created by these artists in residence, ninety of which are nowadays visible along forty-five kilometres of marked forest trails, composed of seven tours of one to four hours' walk.

These creations are exposed to the weather and the passing of time. Either ephemeral or relatively durable, they favour a direct relationship with nature.

The so-called Sylvestre homes (Le Nichoir et La Noisette) ; , created by designer Matali Crasset, have been open for rent since spring 2013. With this project, Vent des Forêts invites visitors to enjoy a simple yet at the same time exceptional overnight stay in a minimalist environment.

A mobile application is now also available!

The trails are freely accessible from March to the end of September (it’s recommended to avoid the trails during hunting season).
