The improvement of comfort is at the origin of another type of covered, partially enclosed laundry, consisting of a pavilion roof resting on wooden, metal or stone clones, supported by solid ashlar walls. This arrangement allowed the laundresses to be protected from drafts and out of sight of passers-by.
