The former Hôtel de Faillonnet is also called the Gargoyle House. Dating from 1554 (date shown on a shield on the façade), it was bought by lawyers in the 18th century and passed to the de Faillonet family at the beginning of the 19th century. This house includes a street dwelling, a courtyard followed by outbuildings and terraced gardens. Five zoomorphic chimeras (ornamental motifs that do not allow water to flow) decorate the cornice.

In 1909, Léon Vadel, a local sculptor, made a bronze statue representing the famous Renaissance sculptor Ligier Richier. But a few years later, under the occupation, the statue was melted down by German soldiers. Vadel therefore decided to build a new one after the war. Completed in 1934, the sculpture shows a young Ligier Richier, holding a chisel in one hand and a mass in the other. For his face, Vadel was inspired by that of the angel present in the Tombstone of the church of Saint-Etienne.

This church with its vividly coloured stained-glass windows houses one of Ligier Richier's major works, The Entombment. The sculpture, which has recently been restored, is justifiably considered as one of the finest examples of 16th-century sculpture in Lorraine. The 13 figures are slightly larger than life and are carved out of fine-grained Meuse limestone. This is the sculptor's last known work in France. Guided tour with advance booking.
