Length of the route : 10.1 km Town : Chaillon Trail marked by La Grolle Sammielloise: lagrollesammielloise55@laposte.net The name of this hike comes from a wooded area that you will cross for several km. Fairly easy, it is recommended to hike it clockwise in order to avoid a fairly steep hill encountered in the other direction. Two routes are offered, one of 12.5 km the other of 10 km. With your back to the town hall, you will take the direction of Heudicourt and take the path which leads into an agricultural plain. Arrived at a small bridge, you will have the choice, either to turn left (circuit of 12.5 km) or to go straight (circuit of 10 km). Continue straight on along the Ru de Criot and cross a road at a place called Criot, where a farm and a mill (supplied with water from the Ru de Criot) survived after the First World War. Turn left and you will go up a gentle slope in the heart of the Bois de Grande Enceinte. At the height of a stele, you will leave the forest road to enter a small, very shaded path which will lead you back. In the spring, you will have the opportunity to do a few armfuls of lily of the valley. Perhaps you will meet wild boars in some areas which remain very humid in all seasons. Back in the village, several curiosities: washhouse-fountain, calvaries, fountains, and the church. Have a good hike. |
