4h easy

Length of the route : 15.6 km Town : Kœur-la-Petite

Trail marked by La Grolle Sammielloise: lagrollesammielloise55@laposte.net 15.5 km hike with a drop of 260 m. Fairly easy, it nevertheless has some slopes. Presented as a shortcut to the 17.5 km hike that bears the same name, it is also largely shaded in the forest; a gayoir (or brightening room) still exists in this rural village of Koeur-la-Petite. It is a large basin in which the horses were washed and groomed when they returned from work in the fields. Incidentally, it also served as a drinking trough. By the way, a fountain dating from 1898 stands on the square. The St Rémi church houses a 16th century painting classified as a historical monument. Later, among other curiosities, including the castle of which only a few vestiges remain, residence of Louis XIII during the siege of Saint-Mihiel. In the next village, Koeur-la-Grande, the Church of St Martin (15th century) is famous for its frescoes (made by Dante Donzelli). Other curiosities adorn the route: oratory, viewpoint on the Jard castle. After a long forest crossing of the Bois des Rouas and on the way back, enjoy the viewpoint over the Meuse valley, the fort of the Camp des Romains former oppidum on which the fort was built at the end of the 19th century. Have a good hike.
