C05 CROIX COLICHE

2h30 average

Length of the route : 13.9 km Town : Lamorville

The baptismal name of this circuit is borrowed from the Calvary which was located at the extreme N.W of the signposted route, 1km from the village of Dompierre aux Bois, near the R.D.109.
A longshoreman broke it and knocked it down, it has just been put back to its original place. The circuit draws a triangle whose N. and E. coasts run through the national forest of the Mountain, famous for its beautiful beeches. It covers about 1200 ha, it paid a very heavy price to the storms of 1990 and 1999, old woods are becoming rare, giving way to vast clearings colonized by precious species: beeches, maples, ashes, fruit trees. If the capital has been reached, the ecosystem has been enriched with light, exuberant flora and abundant fauna.
