C04 LES FONTAINES

2h average

Length of the route : 9.2 km Town : Lamorville

The name of the circuit is borrowed from the source of the Preignoir captured in 1880 to supply the washhouses and fountains, then to allow the water to be conveyed to the sinks of the village of Lamorville in 1932. The fountains have disappeared, only a few traces remain, as well as the brook and the wetland which is very much appreciated by the fauna.
The itinerary, essentially a forest one, gives a glimpse in its first part of the life of the soldiers in 1914 and 1918. Numerous scars mark out the terrain: trenches, works, various billets.
Passing through the plain, one can discover the Collines de Meuse, the western slope of the Côtes, with their cereal-growing crests separated by numerous streams.
